Undermain Theatre presents: Neil Young's Greendale
March 30 - May 3 2008

more info: www.undermain.org

location: Undermain is located at 3200 Main Street at Murray Street in Deep Ellum.

The live band for Undermain’s upcoming production of Neil Young’s Greendale will be composed of legendary musicians of the Deep Ellum music scene. Leading the way as Music Director and lead guitarist is Kenny Withrow of New Bohemians. Paul Semrad of Course of Empire will perform on bass guitar. Joining the band on drums is two time Grammy award winner Alan Emert, of Brave Combo fame. Undermain Theatre, through special arrangement with Wixen Music Publishing, is pleased to announce the theatrical premiere of Neil Young’s Greendale. The rock opera by the legendary singer - songwriter will be adapted for the stage by Undermain Theatre on March 29-May 3, 2008. This song cycle has been compared to Thornton Wilder’s Our Town and Sherwood Anderson’s Winesberg Ohio as a portrait of the changing face of small town America. Performed with a live band and sung by an ensemble cast, Greendale explores the lives of three generations of the Green family through themes ranging from corruption to mass media consolidation to environmentalism.  Greendale was released in 2003 as an album (voted one of the best albums of 2003 by Rolling Stone Magazine), a film, and a rock tour. It is soon to be published as a graphic novel and this spring it will be produced as a rock opera with an incredible live band premiering at Undermain. Undermain Theatre performances are Wednesdays-Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Fridays-Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. Previews are March 26-28. Tickets are Wed and Thurs $15, Fri $20, and Sat $25. Discounts are available for seniors, students and KERA members. Call 214.747.5515 or visit www.undermain.org.  ------------------------------------------------

Blithe Spirit
April 24-26, 30, May 1-3 at 8 p.m., with matinees on April 27, May 3-4 at 2:15 p.m.

more info: www.collintheatrecenter.com

The Collin Theatre Center presents Blithe Spirit, by Noël Coward. The ingenious plot tells how novelist Charles Condomine invites into his placid country home an eccentric, breezy medium in order to learn the language of the occult.  Little does Charles or his lovely second wife, Ruth, dream that the seance staged by the medium will summon back Charles' first wife, now "passed over" for seven years.  But the lady from beyond, still attractive, still mischievous, appears and torments Charles by reminding him of their days and nights together. Only Charles can see or hear her… and everyone else fears that Charles has gone mad.  One of the most frequently produced comedies world-wide, Blithe Spirit is hilariously funny, brilliant, clever and about as cockeyed as a play can be! Blithe Spirit will be presented by the Collin Theatre Center at Collin College, in the Black Box Theatre, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano 75074. $8 for General Admission, $6 for Students/Senior Citizens (55+).  Group rates are available. For tickets call 972.881.5100. Location: Word of Life Family Church, Mansfield, TX.

Word of Life Family Church Invites Kids to Jerusalem Marketplace: Where Jesus Walked to the Cross. "Our Jerusalem Marketplace program will provide fun, memorable Bible-learning activities for kids of all ages. Each day kids will join other kids to create a small group that's named after one of the twelve tribes of Israel. These Tribes will come together for singing and then explore traditional Bible-times family life. They might take part in Synagogue School, play authentic games, or sample Middle Eastern snacks. Children will even explore a Jerusalem Marketplace, where they'll become apprentices in the Carpentry Shop and bake real bread in the Bakery. "Jerusalem Marketplace is an exciting way for kids to learn more about God's love and Jesus' sacrifice," says Pastor Biggs. "And the best part is that they learn by becoming immersed in authentice Bible-times culture. Children will witness real-life dramas in the center of town, chat with shopkeepers about this prophet Jesus, and even discover what the tax collectors know about Jesus. We hope Jerusalem Marketplace will make God's Word very real to the people in our community."

The Collin Theatre Center presents William Shakespeare’s comedy, "The Comedy of Errors". This is an hilarious story of two sets of identical twins.  Aegeon of Syracuse has come to Ephesus to seek his son, who went in search of his missing twin and mother months ago.  Too bad that Ephesus has just declared war on Syracuse, and will instantly put to death any Syracusean found within their borders unless a ransom is paid.  Meanwhile, the son, Antipholus, and his servant, Dromio (also an identical twin), keep running into strangers who seem to know them.  A series of wild mishaps based on the mistaken identities leads to wrongful beatings, a near-incestuous seduction, an arrest, and accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession.  One of Shakespeare’s earliest and funniest plays!  Directed by Joanne Zipay, Artistic Director of the Judith Shakespeare Company in New York City
