First of all - an enormous thanks to everyone who was there... I've been present for more radio station concerts than I care to remember - but I've never enjoyed one like this past Sunday... The music was amazing - the bands were incredibly friendly - and the people were just salt of the earth, here to have a good time and hang out with friends kinda crowd. It was the summation of every reason I have for wanting to work here. There were no out of control egos - I didn't see one fight break out - I didn't have a band that refused to do this, or say that, or sign a guitar, or meet a fan... And, unfortunately - this is the exception to the rule. I did get a complaint email from someone - that my interview with Rhett Miller from the Old 97's was too indulgent - that I was too much of a fan to be interviewing him - And, at first, I actually considered it a legitimate complaint... But - if I had acted any other way - it would have been fake - and probably sounded even worse... I can't help it - I have been an enormous fan of the Old 97's - ever since I first heard them back in college. So - maybe that guy that emailed me is reading this - I didn't respond... If you are, I don't know what to tell you... maybe next time they'll give me someone I'm not a fan of - but, I doubt it.
Oh - before I forget - the
Todd Snider show at Sons of Herman has been rescheduled for this Friday... He's gonna be coming up to the Full Throttle Garage and hanging out earlier in the day... Listen to Redbeard to get the details on how to get in - And, if you're not doing anything - make sure you head on down to see him - he puts on an incredible show (and, i'll make sure and not interview him - i'm a big fan of his as well).
Awwwww Yeaaah...
Try and deny them - it's not possible... The Frivolous Five are in your brain now... They're all you'll think about - non stop frivolity... With "Sour Cream and Other Delights"... This is the Sound of Summer 2007.
